This project is a commentary on the economic and social climate in contemporary Ireland. It is the documentation of a rapid and unprecedented expansion of infrastructure within the country that represents the prevailing ideology currently professed by governmental and industrial forces. These insist that this increased development is necessary in retaining Ireland’s position within a global financial sphere and is vital for it’s future prosperity. The aim of the work is to draw attention to the issues raised by the effects of this unparalleled growth in urbanisation. It explores the fraught relationship between people and place by documenting the changing topography of a small rural town-land situated in the midlands of Ireland. The project charters the construction of a road passing through agricultural land. It emphasises the sense of upheaval experienced by the community.
